Holy Apostles & NCBC Collaborative Program

Holy Apostles and the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) collaborate to present students with the ability to study online at the NCBC and earn the internationally recognized certification from the NCBC, along with 9 Graduate credits from Holy Apostles.

This collaborative program has been highly successful.  Fr. Tad Pacholczyk, well known in the field of Bioethics, serves as the lead professor for the program at Holy Apostles.  Holy Apostles is regionally accredited through NECHE (formally NEASC). Therefore, students can use these 9 credits that they earn in one of two ways:

  1. Pursue a Masters in Theology, concentrating in Bioethics, at Holy Apostles. The 9 credits earned translates into 3 out of the 4 concentration core courses for the MA in Theology Degree.  Please see our Degree Plan for Bioethics – with NCBC Certification on our Theology Degree Plan Webpage.
  2. Study as a Personal Interest student at Holy Apostles. This is helpful if the student wants the 9 NECHE accredited Graduate credits to transfer to a different Institution.

The NCBC Certification Program in Health Care Ethics offers two waves of their program.  The first wave (the Fall wave) begins each September and ends in May.  The second wave (Mid-Academic wave) begins each February and ends in December.  Their program is based on the Ethical & Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services issued by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.  Although the program is open to people of any field, it was specifically designed for Church leaders, healthcare workers, researchers and workers in the life science fields, those working on ethics committees, and those working at Universities as well as legal and government institutions.

We are currently accepting registrations for the Mid-Academic 2019 session of this program which begins in February!

To participate in this Collaborative program, you must be an accepted student at Holy Apostles.  If you are not currently a student at Holy Apostles it is important to begin your application as soon as possible. Please apply online for the Graduate program.
