Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect is the video conferencing software used at Holy Apostles College & Seminary. To join a meeting, you will simply click on the link provided to you by your professor. The link contains the words “holyapostles” before “adobeconnect”. There will usually be either a course number or some other identifying term after the forward slash to the right of .com.

  • holyapostles.adobeconnect(dot)com/

If it is your first time accessing Adobe Connect, you may be prompted to accept an “add-on”. You cannot call in using a phone. You must call in from your computer or an iPhone, iPad, or Android device using the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). If you use the latter, you will need to download the Adobe Connect app to your smartphone.

Use headphones to listen. If you do not have headphones, annoying feedback will occur, causing an inconvenient user experience. The best thing to do if you do not have headphones is to ensure your microphone is muted at all times, unless you would like to speak. If so, simply unmute yourself by selecting the mic icon.

Logging in to Adobe Connect

After accessing the link provided, you will be brought to a similar screen as below. Simply sign in as a guest by typing your name and clicking “Enter Room”.

Important icons in Adobe Connect

Once inside Adobe Connect, there are three main icons that you should be familiar with.

  1. Speaker icon: Make certain it is green. Select the drop down arrow to the right of the speaker icon for more options.
  2. Mic icon: The most important icon as this is the icon you will click on to mute your microphone when you are not speaking. Also, if your mic does not work, select the drop down arrow to the right of the mic icon to “Select a microphone”. You may have more than one mic installed on your computer. Simply select the various mic icons that show for you until your mic works.
  3. Webcam: When this icon is green, you will should see a video preview of yourself. If not, select the drop down arrow to the right of the webcam icon and select the correct webcam, if you have one or more.
When you first select the Mic Icon or Webcam Icon

When you first select the Mic Icon or Webcam, depending on which you select first, you will be prompted to “Allow” or “Deny”. Simply select “Allow”. Your mic icon will turn green soon after.

If your mic icon is green, but no one can hear your voice, you may have more than one microphone installed. Simply select the down arrow to the right of the mic icon and hover your cursor over “Select Microphone”. Choose a mic until you can be heard.

If your microphone is too loud, select “Adjust Microphone Volume…” and adjust the volume down.

When you first select Webcam icon

When you first select the Webcam icon, you should see a preview screen. No one can see you until you complete the process by selecting “Start Sharing”.

After selecting “Start Sharing”, you may see a “Camera” prompt appear asking you to “Start Addin”. Simply cancel the prompt.

If you do not see yourself, you may have more than one web cam installed on your computer. Simply select the drop-down arrow to the right of the Webcam icon and hover your cursor over “Select Camera” and select a different camera until it works.
Layout using phone/tablet app
You must first download the app to your phone/tablet. Then, select the link to the meeting in this email. Adobe Connect will open itself.
If you join Adobe Connect via your phone app, you must use headphones to listen. Become familiar with the icons once you log in. If something is being shared, like a PowerPoint, you would select the Share icon, which looks like a bulls eye.
