| Holy Apostles is not only an undergraduate and graduate college for lay students. It also is the only Roman Catholic major seminary in Connecticut. Holy Apostles is thus one of the very few Catholic colleges in America where lay students and seminarians attend many of the same classes. The mandatum is a pledge made by the faculty at some Catholic institutions to teach true Catholic doctrine. The faculty at Holy Apostles is held to a higher standard than the mandatum. Because Holy Apostles is responsible for educating seminarians as well as lay students, all members of our faculty are required to adhere to and convey the Magisterium, the true teaching of Christ's one Church on Earth. To ensure that this occurs, the hiring of all faculty must be approved by the Bishop of Norwich, currently the Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, who also serves as chancellor of Holy Apostles.
