Bishop Michael Cote, D.D. Celebrates Institution of Lectors & Acolytes The Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, D.D. celebrated the Mass for the Institution of Lectors and Acolytes at the Queen of the Holy Apostles Chapel at Holy Apostles College and Seminary on Friday morning, October 24, 2008. Bishop Cote installed a total of fifteen seminarians for Lector and sixteen for Acolyte. In his homily, Bishop Cote encouraged the seminarians present to work hard to "discern accurately the spiritual realities of our day and to help others to see them more clearly" and to "become men who know God's word and God's will and to lead others to Christ." The Bishop also challenged the men "to study carefully the word you proclaim and to make it part of your being. You must let it draw you closer to the sacrifice of the Mass and give you a greater appreciation of Christ's mercy. Then share this mercy and truth with others". While the Schola sang in the background, Bishop Cote individually blessed each member installed as a Lector or Acolyte. The Mass was concelebrated by the Rector, the Very Reverend Douglas L. Mosey, C.S.B, other priests from the Seminary, the diocese of Norwich and other visiting priests. To see more photos from the event, please click Here updated 12/02/08 hav. |
