Agreement on Transfer Credits with the Adler-Aquinas Institute


Holy Apostles College and Seminary has partnered with the Adler-Aquinas Institute (and its affiliated programs: the Ignatius-Angelicum Liberal Studies Program; the Angelicum Academy; the Great Books Academy) to accept credits from their Great Books and Theology Online programs. 

Adler-Aquinas offers 60 credit hours of liberal arts education, principally the Great Books Program – 48 credits (information on which is available at http://angelicum.net/great-books-program/  ); and, 12 hours of Theology Online (information on which is available at http://www.angelicum.net/theology-online/theology-overview/  ). These courses have all been reviewed by the American Council on Education (ACE CREDIT) and were recommended for college credit, as stated above. It is the policy of Holy Apostles College & Seminary to accept ACE recommended courses that meet the normative criteria for transfer of credit.

All credits earned through the Adler-Aquinas Institute (or the affiliated programs mentioned above) are transferable to the undergraduate BA programs at Holy Apostles, up to 60 credits.

Credits earned through the Adler-Aquinas Institute (or the affiliated programs mentioned above) are transferable to the undergraduate AA programs at Holy Apostles, up to 45 credits, as follows:

1.) HACS agrees to accept said Great Books Program credits (up to a maximum of 45 credits) as evidenced by an official transcript, towards its Associate of Arts (A.A.) in the Liberal Arts Degree, as follows:

A.)   Students transferring said 45 credits (maximum) would need to complete an additional 15 credits from Holy Apostles (specifically, 5 courses: Catechism Pillars I & II; Catechism Pillars III & IV; Math; Physics; Chemistry) in order to earn their A.A. in Liberal Arts Degree from Holy Apostles.

2.)   HACS agrees to accept said Theology Online courses (4 asynchronous courses taught by Fr. Joseph Fessio, Th.D.) as evidenced by an official transcript, up to a maximum of 12 credits, together with a maximum of up to 33 credits of the said Great Books program, (thus a total maximum of 45 credits) towards its Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Theology degree, as follows:

A.)   Students transferring said 45 credits (maximum) would need to complete an additional 15 credits from Holy Apostles (as determined by Holy Apostles in each case, depending upon which of said theology courses were completed) in order to earn their A.A. in Theology Degree from Holy Apostles.    

Students who begin the aforementioned Great Books Program and Theology Online courses during the effectiveness of the Agreement shall be entitled to have the said courses they have successfully completed, as well as those they complete after a termination of this agreement for the purpose of finishing their degree program at Holy Apostles, accepted at Holy Apostles College & Seminary as set forth above.
