How do you get your money?

Requirements

In order to receive student loan funds, borrowers must complete the following two steps:

  1. Entrance Counseling
  2. Electronic Master Promisory Note (EMPN)

Sign in using your PIN

To complete these requirements visit studentloans.gov and sign in with the PIN you received at the time you filled out your FAFSA.

Don't have a PIN?

For questions and help regarding your PIN

  1. Complete your Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling online. This interview is a federal requirement and will inform you for your rights and responsibilites as a borrower under the Federal Stafford Loan Program.  It does NOT SAVE and must be accomplished at one sitting of approximately 30 minutes. 
  • Select "Complete Entrance Loan Counseling"
  • Follow the instructions and submit
  1. Electronically sign your Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  • After completing the Entrance Counseling, return to "My Profile"
  • Select "Complete Master Promissory Note"
  • Select "Subsidized/Unsubsidized"
  • Complete the required information and submit

Receipt of funds

All funds are credited to the student account. Any credit balances are refunded to the student within the time prescribed by federal regulations.

Most financial aid funds are disbursed in two equal disbursements for students enrolled in the fall and spring semesters and three equal disbursement for students enrolled in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
